Gli OBLIVION PROTOCOL hanno recentemente annunciato la loro firma con Atomic Fire Records e oggi, il nuovo progetto del tastierista e songwriter dei THRESHOLD Richard West svela i primi dettagli del loro album di debutto “The Fall Of The Shires“, che uscirà alla fine di quest’anno: Il disco è stato scritto come sequel del concept album del 2017 dei THRESHOLD “Legends Of The Shires“, e offre un suono denso e climatico a metà strada tra RUSH, STEVEN WILSON, i PINK FLOYD dell’era “The Dark Side Of The Moon” e i maestri dell’hard rock GHOST, il tutto fornendo all’ascoltatore piccoli cenni intelligenti, inchini e riferimenti al primo capitolo.
Richard West spiega: “Quando i miei compagni di band dei THRESHOLD hanno deciso di non registrare un seguito della storia di “Legends Of The Shires”, sapevo di voler rimanere in quel mondo ancora un po’, così ho scritto il mio seguito, intitolato “The Fall Of The Shires”“.
La formazione degli OBLIVION PROTOCOL è completata da tre rinomati musicisti: il chitarrista Ruud Jolie (WITHIN TEMPTATION), il bassista Simon Andersson (DARKWATER) e il batterista Darby Todd (DEVIN TOWNSEND). Infine, Karl Groom dei THRESHOLD ha contribuito al disco con alcuni assoli di chitarra davvero coinvolgenti.

The album cover — designed by celebrated artist Thomas Ewerhard who was responsible for so many of THRESHOLD‘s classic covers such as »Hypothetical« and »Subsurface« — depicts the downfall of the world shown on »Legends Of The Shires.« The group’s debut single, ‘Forests In The Fallout,’ will be unveiled on May 26th alongside album pre-order options.
